My brother-in-law bought a brand new Nikon Coolpix P500 camera recently. This aroused my interest in this camera.
Naturally I wanted to check out if my brother-in-law has not taken his money down the drain.
I then asked him what his first impressions were. And this is what he said – and this was an email from him;
“it’s an interesting little machine. Been taking it for a ”test drive” and it leaves me speechless in its versatility! Loved it instantly when we looked it up on the net, and when we were finally convinced that it is the one, we wanted nothing else!”
After his words, then I took it upon myself to research the web to investigate the “little machine” as my brother-in-law put it. Also I will share with you a little later what other people are saying about nikon coolpix P500 camera.

You can shoot five shots in approximately one second — at full resolution. Also its multiple Continuous Modes allow for a variety of high speed shooting options up to a blazing 120 frames per second (reduced resolution).So you’re sure to shoot the fastest skateboarders, skiers, and windsurfers.
3. Easy Panorama Mode that Captures the Splendor of the Majestic Scenes
COOLPIX P500 includes Easy Panorama Mode that combines multiple shots into a seamless 180- or 360-degree panoramic picture. You simply move the camera as you shoot and let the camera combine the shots for you. You have a choice from 19 different Scene Modes or you can let the camera automatically select the most appropriate settings.
4. Blink Warning
I particulalry fancy this as there is nothing I hate like having a picture of someone who appears like they closed their eyes when you took their picture. CoolpixP500 will warn you when it detects that your subject may have blinked. Cool hey!
5. Shoot from Unusual angles and tricky vantage points
The camera has a three-inch, tilting, vari-angle monitor. This 921,000-dot display makes it easy to capture, review, and share images – and of course to take pictures from difficult angles. The camera seems to be very versatile.
6. Breeze Night Shots
With Advanced Night Landscape and Advanced Night Portrait Modes you will be able to shoot multiple shots that will automatically combine to produce a superior image.
